What the laboratory actually measures.
HPLCHigh-performance liquid chromatographySeparates the components of a sample so each can be measured. The target peptide appears as a main peak; impurities appear as smaller ones. Our reports use reversed-phase HPLC with UV detection.Answers: How pure is this batch?
MSMass spectrometryMeasures the mass of the molecules in the sample (electrospray ionisation) and compares it with the expected molecular weight of the compound.Answers: Is this the stated compound?

The vocabulary you’ll meet on ALORA labels, listings and Certificates of Analysis.
- Lyophilized
- Freeze-dried. Water is removed under vacuum so the peptide is supplied as a stable powder.
- Lot / batch
- A single production run. Every vial from it shares one lot number and one report.
- Certificate of Analysis (COA)
- The laboratory’s report of the tests performed on a lot and their results.
- Identity
- Confirmation that a sample is the stated compound.
- Purity
- The proportion of a sample that is the target compound, as measured.
- Appearance
- The documented look of the material — colour and form — checked against its specification.
- HPLC
- High-performance liquid chromatography — a separation method used to measure purity.
- Mass spectrometry (MS)
- A method that measures molecular mass, used to confirm identity.
- Reconstitution
- Returning a lyophilized powder to solution with an appropriate solvent for laboratory work.
- In vitro
- Performed outside a living organism — in cells, tissues or test systems.
